Hello all, I'm crossposting this in the c5 and C6 tech forums because it's a tr6060 in my c5 Corvette. When decelerating in gear, there is a knocking/rattle noise coming through the torque tube and into the shifter, which vibrates at the same frequency as the noise. Here's what I've observed so far. -car on, not moving, clutch in and in gear - no noise.-car on, not moving, clutch out in neutral - no noise other than lightweight flywheel chatter. - car on, accelerating in any gear - no noise. -car on, decelerating in any gear - clutch either in or out - noise and vibration. Noise is dependent on which gear, the frequency speeds up and slows down depending what gear it's in, even when the clutch is in. Also, at around 1000-1200 rpm, the noise disappears. Above or below that, the noise reappears. What I'm hoping is that someone's going to tell me this is normal gear noise for a tr6060 and that I don't need an input shaft bearing. Any questions please post a reply and I'll get back to you. Riley
Edit to add: noise is more noticeable/frequency is faster when in lower gears: first gear = titititititititititi while third gear = ti ti ti ti ti

Noises are tough to diagnose from a written post. Is there any way for you to post a video? One mans "clunk" is another mans "knock" or another "whack."

I will take a video later today. Not sure how to post it here, but I might be able to upload it to YouTube or something.

Had a transmission rattle in Nevada slowing down from a speed run.
No immediate problems, but the next morning I did not have reverse.
No choice in my small town but a rebuilt transmission.
Hope you are luckier.

I hope I'm luckier too, I've been driving it the past 3 days, but will stop. I'd run this one into the ground if I wasn't worried about the gear stacks being misaligned and ******* every individual gear, shaft, and bearing up. A $2000 rebuild a la TDP or RPM is a lot more attractive than a new transmission.
Jesus dude, I'm sorry but that sounds like a clutch/disc/throw out bearing/pressure plate thing (It is hard to hear).
Can you tell from listening is in the front or rear? My guess is the front so you are looking at the clutch area. I'm not thinking it is your transmission.
Your best best is to put it up in the air, start the car and run through the gear. You will know instantaneously where your problem is located.

Y'know what man I hope you're right. Anything's better than having to send the transmission off. I'm not sure what that noise would be coming from, however. New pilot, throwout, slave(measured and shimmed accordingly), flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate all from act. Lightweight flywheel and hd clutch assembly. I'll put it up and run it, then get back to you. Thanks for not instantly condemning the transmission.
