Security light on. Correct key
If it was easy, everybody would want to do it!!!!!iI
I recently purchased a 1998 corvette coupe, automatic, with 197xxx miles. I did not expect it to be perfect, i expect stuff to break, i am old enough to know that a car 1/2 my age is VERY old and from a time when the technogly was FAR out man!!!
Days before my WYOMING TECH semester was going to start, i switched gears and choose a Machinest career over turning wrenches. THAT WAS 1992
FAST FORWARD..Jan 15th 2023.
I landed a job that I could afford to save and buy a C5 in 7 1/2 weeks.
I got the car and enjoyed the best 200 miles i have driven since I was 16!!!
Last Friday, after my 6th day 12 hr shift, I went to start car and turned the key, no crank. Lights and everything else was fine.
researched the web, thought I had a key issue. Got new cylinder and key w/ same resistance as original. Still no crank..jumped TDR and starter would crank but voltage dropped and turns out battery was toast.
FF to today. Buddy comes by with hot battery put it in my car and starts right up!!!
make the parking lot, i turn off car, return his battery, i go and buy a new battery. Install it and car starts for 4 or 5 seconds, pull key code, and then dies on it own. Has not started again..security light will flash with key in ignition.
Our C5s are SUPER sensitive to battery and charging condition. Did you install a LCM5 yet? That would help if your battery was a bit off but still serviceable.
