Hey guys I know there are endless resources to look at regarding headlight issues but I would like to just get a personal response and not have to spend 10's of more minutes researching this.
My headlight has the terrible sound after you close them that last 5-10 secs. From my research it seems that this issue is specifically because of the stripped gear.
However I also have an issue which my passenger side does not pop up sometimes. About 7 months ago it happened a few days in a row and then it went away, and it just came back a few days ago.
(other than these two things I have no issues, other than the fact that the manual operating thing doesn't work for either sides)
So what are the EXACT parts/things I need to do to fix THESE PARTICULAR issues. A full new motor on the passenger side and just the stripped gear on the drivers side? Or what are my options. Thanks guys!
After doing some research on prices and everything it would be nice if I just had to do the motors and it would fix all my issues, would only be $100 CAD with shipping... So your saying the motors will fix all the issues and no need for brass gears etc?
Thanks for the help I appreciate it.
(my headlight started to work again, i'm assuming it because I moved around the manual ****)
Yes, the grinding you hear is because the original gear is bad.
You can get a brass gear, sure but then you still have to pull the motor and disassemble it to put in the new gear (& all that entails) and then put the 20yo motor back in.
Or you can just pop in a fresh new motor assembly (with a new gear included) and not worry about it for another couple decades
That link I posted is for 00-04, what year is yours?
True that is fantastic...
I found some on amazon for only $50 ea and fast shipping, thanks though.
And doesn't it show my car info? I just made this account and I put in my car, car mods and my profile pic as my car. But I can't see my profile pic
As a Vette Veteran like yourself (and I assume 40-60+ year old?), what is your opinion on my cars looks? I may sell it next summer and I am curious how people are going to like it, I know the younger people will love it and I feel most older people would like it with only a very select few purests etc that don't like it/the mods.
What's your opinion?
(The interior pic isn't my car its just the same seats as I don't have a pic of my interior, and I maxed out the rear on the stock lowering bolts so the fitment is proper now and I got the USA flag emblems)
Quick question, what year is your car. It does make a difference in the headlight motor. The 1997 to early 2000 used one style of headlight motor and late 2000 to 2004 used another style. The motor styles are not interchangeable.
The listing JDMvette posted is for the late 2000 to 2004 cars. These motors are less expensive than the earlier ones.
