Door lights, visor lights, and trunk light not working
Corvette 2002. My door lights do not work when doors are opened, my trunk light does not work when lid is open, and my sun visor lights do not work. No other problems with other lights. No problem codes. I suspect (?) this may be related to a recent installation of new sun visors. At any rate, after research, I pulled fuses #2 and 29. They are intact. Could the problem be related to #42 Courtesy Light relay? And, if so, how best to remove it, check it, and if needed replace it? Or, any suggestions for any other causal factors? Thanks.
All the lights have these in common:
Check the fuse.
Swap the relay with another one.
The BCM controls the relay by providing ground. See if you have 12v across relay terminals 85 and 86.
It's probably not chassis grounds or switches because more than one would have to fall to lose all the lights.
A visual inspection of the fuse isn’t the right way to check it…get yourself a 12 volt test light connected to a good ground and check both test points on top of the fuse…those fuses are “hot at all times” so the test light should light on both test points…if no lights on either one you have a “feed” problem…if lights on one side it’s a fuse problem…lights on both you’re good…swap the relay with the horn relay…if no good take the test light and with the relay removed see if it illuminates on 2 of the terminals…don’t shove the tip of the test light into the relay…if both sides (load and control side feed) are good you can jumper terminals 30 and 87 of the relay…that is the “load” side…I can try to look at the wiring schematic later on.
