What is the general consensus (besides upgrading to the 01+ torque tube) for replacing the input shaft on the 97-00 10mm torque tubes? Is there any way to make the 12mm input shaft work? I don't believe mine is bent, the end is just a little out of round from a failed bronze pilot bearing. Think it would be possible to have it welded and machined? Any idea if they are hardened?
Normally I would just upgrade to the 01+ torque tube but it just isn't in the budget right now.
12mm input shaft should work, its same lenght than 10mm shaft. You maybe need drill coupler hole abit bigger.
I use this input shaft in my -99, i have Hinson solid driveshaft. https://www.txdrivetrain.com/product...r-input-shaft/

My concern with that would be having to drill out the propeller shaft for the 12mm bolts. the material on the ears is thin enough as it is....and I am probably pushing how much it can handle as it is haha.
Those ears can handle 12mm bolts. My car previous owner broke 10mm bolts in dyno when take 800hp. He drill 12mm bolts to stock -99 torquetube and take abit over 1000hp. When i buy car and feel vibration in torquetube. So we take off torquetube and driveshaft look like banana.
