Default DSS Coupler Failure

So what I thought was an input shaft bearing failure ended up being failed DSS couplers. They have about 2 years of driving on them. Really not happy, as it is going to make me miss having the car ready for a big show I was planning on debuting the car at. Yea, I know I could have checked it any time in the last several years the car has been down but out of sight out of mind. Time to upgrade to solid couplers until I move the trans up front in a few years.

Interesting failure. Any particular reason you're not going to use new stock couplers?

I fully expect to make 12xx whp once it is broken in, get all the bugs worked out, and I get it on the dyno.

On a side note, those DSS couplers never saw more than 650ish whp.

That sounds pretty serious - makes sense why you're going solid. I'm far from an expert on this, but guessing you're planning to go front-trans to help with handling that power/torque in the long run. So my brain leads me to think that maybe you're going with billet couplers as somewhat of a hold-over until then, instead of going with a full DSS prop shaft.

Are those aftermarket couplers that failed and if so what brand??
I have yet to find an aftermarket coupler that is worth the effort to install them. Do you remember all the problems with the infamous SIX SHOOTER COUPLERS? WOW!
I can see the solid couplers for your purpose.

Like the title and the description say they are DSS - Drive shaft shop Couplers.

I very much remember the original Six shooters catastrope

That's exactly why i'm doing it. It's just to get me by until I do the big conversion..... If I blow up the torque two before I am ready to do the big conversion I will throw a one piece shaft in it as I am not going to be able to do the big conversion for about four years until I get done with school. I have one year left on my bachelors and then hopefully 3 years of medicsl school assuming I get in somewhere.
