Default My clutch replacement

I had posted before about a bad noise at idle and when driving. I pulled the drivetrain today and found a leaking rear main seal and the infamous drivers side axle seal leak.

When I went to remove the flywheel, all six bolts were finger tight. Unbelievably loose. Also, do stock ls1 non z06 flywheels have dowels? Mine does.
from looking at the clutch assembly, it appeared that the throw out bearing was always in contact with the clutch fingers. I don’t think this is normal?

also, the throw out bearing spins smoothly but moves side to side and up and down about 1/8 inch in all directions (1/4 inch total movement). Is this normal?

thanks for any input.

The dowel hole is there but, I have NEVER see a dowel pin used on any stock GM OEM clutch LS1 or LS6. Did you match mark the relationship between the OEM flywheel and the crank?? If not, there is a possibility of having a vibration if it is clocked in a different position than it was originally installed from the factory/

Are there ANY counter balance weight pins in any of the holes on the outside rim of your flywheel?

The throw-out bearing should always ride on the pressure plate fingers. That side to side movement is not normal. Just get a new slave, throw-out bearing and make sure you get a remote bleeder kit!

Lot of clutch jobs these days. The flywheel bolts looseness...good thing you caught that before it walked. Now that it is apart...replace it all my friend. The rear main seal, get a new cover with the seal already installed to minimize installation errors. You have one shot to get it as right as you can. Take your time..check each competent that's going back in before you send it back home...and take your time if you have the space

The flywheel doesn't actually look bad..but get a new one as well as clutch kit. Buy the Blind hole puller for the pilot bearing. The old school SBC trick with grease or bread aint the way to go on this ordeal. Good luck fella
