Default C5 fuel pump issue - need advice

While installing a new old stock Racetronix Fuel pump (FPA-005A) and wiring harness (FPA-007) for supercharged 1999 C5, one of the retaining tabs on the fuel pump cylinder cracked. The other 2 are fine and seem to hold the top part that bolts to the outer tank quite sturdy but not solid. The top part is about 1/8” higher only where the broken tab is and there is no opening visible. I shook it hard and the top opened up a little revealing a 1/4” by 1/2” long opening but doesn’t open up wider than that. The top part is held solidly enough by the other 2 tabs.

The small opening is on the top part of the cylinder where the wire plug is and the fuel tube comes out to the top part which bolts to the outer tank.
There are no issue with the bottom of the cylinder, where the pump is in.

The pump is discontinued and Racetronix is looking for options: replacement pump, or maybe new cylinder (Walbro discontinued current model)
For now, I want to stick with the stock fuel system and in-tank pump.

Question: Can I use this pump or will I have problems with it separating under hard driving conditions?
Is there a safe method to secure that top? (Ie: 1/2” stainless steel crimped band around the top of cylinder?

Thanks
