Default C1225 (h)

Took the vette out yesteday to go to dinner about 35 mines away. some stop n go traffic but nothing hideous when all of a sudden I notice "check gauges" in my hud. The dreaded "service traction control" "abs" . Get to the restaurant and park. 2 hours later I get in the car and no DTC's. Drove same distance hme with no further issues. Pulled all the cods all of which were in history and the closest thing I could fine related to the traction/abs systems was C1225. excessive wheel speed. Going to go back in and clear all the codes. The rest had to do with the ldcm & rdcm and there were only a few of them. I'm thinking of being proactive in looking for a 2000 replacement ABS module just in case and to prevent a "crises" situation.....
Any ideas on what may have caused the codes? Excessive heat? Temp at the time was a little over 220

I've not known the Service ABS code to trigger a check gauges alert. Check gauges usually means low oil pressure, high temps, or out of fuel. Several threads for EBCM say to check your grounds first. Having had this issue myself, installing a new 14 gauge ground wire between the EBCM and the PCM has solved my problem. I would especially suspect electrical issues if you are getting other codes, and they are intermittent, like your experience yesterday.

Hope that helps.

Just to clarify the "check gauges" was in the heads up display and not the usual "check engine" alert but I will check those grounds

Every time I turn mine on the "check gauges" alert is on the HUD until I hit reset 3 times and make the messages go away.

Well this is what sets the DTC if you erase it and come back :
C1225 through C1228
The EBCM detects a rapid variation in the wheel speed. The wheel speed changes by 16 km/h (10 mph) or more in 0.01 second. The change must occur 3 times with no more than 0.2 seconds between occurrences.

This is for the right front tire (RF)

and may be a bad connection at the sensor connector or at the other end of that short harness...with the key on one of the 2 connectors wires has a "bias voltage" of 5 volts...that bias voltage can help you in troubleshooting...take your DVOM and if you see that bias voltage you can start wiggling the wires and see if that bias voltage goes away ...for the other wire you can disconnect the other end of the short harness and wiggle the wires and with an ohm meter see if the wires goes open...you can even swap out the short harness and see if the DTC goes to the other side…this may also be a bad wheel speed sensor…no need to check any grounds yet.

I did get a LDCM B2286 code for +5vdc reference fault at the LDCM. I''ll check it. Time to break out the old trusty Fluke meter. Thanks C5
