Looking for some advice on my new-to-me C5. When filling the car with gas, I trigger the shutoff valve on the pump every few seconds. I've read the advice on this forum, and have tried angling the pump, flowing as little as possible, etc. but with no positive results.
I understand there was a TSB (#04-06-04-031) made for this issue in 2004, but have had no luck finding the part as it is discontinued (currently on a waitlist at corvettesalvage).
Does anyone here know if there's another replacement part that corrects this issue? It feels like this is a dead issue where most have either replaced the part or live with it.
Far better than the problem I had at the pump.....had fuel pouring out from the left tank under the Corvette....had a very LARGE puddle of premium fuel.....I would have gladly traded you problems......
I have the same problem at the pump sometimes. It seemed to help when I turned the handle upside down. Might just be the stations pump handles too.
happens in my 2016 Rebel at 2 of the 8 pumps at my local Shell. Never the vette or my 4 other cars. I asked the attendant if it happens a lot and he said "to some makes of cars those 2 pumps always do it, but just those two pumps". So take that for what it's worth.
Try another station or alternate pumps before you go throwing parts at your car.
Happens on any car I've owned in the last 10 years. Seems like stations have upped flow rates to get more customers in and out (read: MORE MONEY!!). I've found it helps to pump at the same pump someone else is at, pumping on the opposite side. FWIW......
