I have a 2 year old optima red top battery in my 02 Z that is rated for 720 cca. I had it load tested today and it comes back with a rating of 889 cca. I started having electrical issues popping up and the car is now undrivable. I have the 2mph fuel cutout and can't make it out of the garage. I had a message saying charging system fault during start up and the next day this issue. Could the battery be causing wonky readings? I have had many sensors fail recently. The car has been an electrical nightmare.
Only way to tell if the battery is being overcharged is by measuring voltage at the battery, anything over 15 volts is bad. The battery voltage can only be charged to 12.6 volts or so because it only has that number of cells, and the cars systems will only draw the current that they require.
