I'm hoping someone can steer me in the direction of what could be wrong with my c5 with auto transmission. i had put my c5 on jack stands to fix an exhaust leak & replace my fuel filter. before i did this, the car ran great. i didnt have any delay or slip in my transmission. When i put the car back on the ground, I could feel it go into gear, but it wouldn't move. I determined the emergency brake was stuck on. I put it back on jack stands & removed the back tires. i was having difficulty in removing , getting the brake to release. At that point ,I just pulled the 2 bolts that hold the bracket that held the e brake line to the rear hub. i did this to both rear tires. when i put it back on the ground, but it still won't move. its not the same as before, I don't feel the bump of going into gear as before. The car moves forward, barely, wont back up at all. forward movement is only a few inches, but it did move slightly. I'm at a complete loss as what could be wrong. is there some safety back up that does this if e brake is disconnected? I'm not a great mechanic. I'm half assed, at best, but I'm learning quickly. If someone could give me an idea of what is wrong, i would be eternally grateful. I'm at a complete loss of what could be wrong. Thank you everyone.
Sounds like it might be the bushings on the transmission cable. If one of them breaks it'll still shift but not engage the transmission.
I wanted to thank everyone for their input to my c5 problem. the general consensus was pretty much the same. without yall's help I would be at a loss. I've never met such a wonderful group of people. I'm not very good at computers & I hope this message reaches all who shared their wisdom. thank you everyone.
