Hello everyone. I recently started hearing a ticking sound coming from the drivers side of the engine. Sounds like it’s in the upper part of the engine (valve train, headers?)…. Of course I started thinking the worst… piston slap, bad lifter etc. the strange thing is that along with the ticking noise I have noticed another symptom- very loud/pronounced burble/popping on deceleration. This led me to think that there may be a leak? Thoughts?
I was unable to detect the tic over the nominal background noise -- that said, I've never heard of an intake manifold leak causing a tic. High idle, slow to return to idle on stopping, lean popping yes, tic no.

thanks for the reply. Here is a better video (I hope)… it definitely seems to be running lean….
Get yourself a cheap scanner that can rell you what the long and short term fuel trims are. The scanner can be used to troubleshoot the issue. The CRP123e is a good one and it will allow you to read all of the systems. There are others that are cheaper.
Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I’m having a very similar experience with my 2003 automatic c5
possibly. Was not able to get a scanner on it before I put it away for the winner. But I did change the intake manifold gaskets to a better gasket. I also swapped out the push rods and stock rocker arms for Tron bearing ones. It seems to have resolved the issue. Believe it or not, I’m actually getting very little to know verbal. I do want to get a scanner and put it on to check the long and short term fuel. But at this point, I haven’t done that.
