Default C5 using vacuum manifold?

Has anyone just removed the oem vaccum reservior canister and just used and aftermarket vacuum manifold block, the ran new silicone lines to whichever sources atillnneed to be used?
I ask because I recently removed the A.I.R system and my oem plug that runs from the intake is a little sketchy. If my observations are correct I would only need to have my vacuum source from the intake manifold, then have the hvac controls line replaced. So it would be simple in my mind to just replace the old factory lines with a new silicone line running to the intake and one off the manifold block to the hvac connection. I could even have it more accessible. I don't see how this would affect anything. Thoughts? Experiences?
. In all I'd just like to eliminate vacuum leaks on my c5 as I've had nothing bit troubles since purchasing mine.

My reservoir leaked the first time I finally got the A/C to hold refrigerant. I bypassed it, rather than pull the fender or liner to go about replacing it. Total consequence I’ve found is that at high throttle the HVAC goes back to uncontrolled, returning to normal when I take my foot out of it. Pretty sure I also bypassed the check valve, and if that was in system I’d probably never know the difference.

Just use a regular vacuum cap on the line that goes to the AIR pump and it will be fine. What do you mean that the "oem plug that runs from the intake is a little sketchy."?

Thanks for the responses. After a little more examination and thinking, I decided to just purchase some silicone vacuum hose of 1/4" and 1/8" sizes. I reached back behind the manifold and pulled the oem vacuum source off and pushed a new 1/4" hose section on and ziptied it to seal. Then got to the vacuum reservior and pulled the lines not needed loose, which perfectly left the check valve and hvac line still intact. Boom, all that was needed then was a 1/4" to 1/8" vacuum barn fitting to connect the two sizes together. Check for leaks using my smoke machine. No more leak from behind the manifold and all lines not needed were eliminated. Much easier to monitor since all other lines are irrelevant. Thanks guys!
