2003 Z06 tinny/squeaky exhaust

2003 Z06 tinny/squeaky exhaust
Hello guys. Got a weird sound coming from the exhaust. On decel the car seems squeaky/tinny. No mods, 72k miles. Bought the car about a month ago. No DTCs or any performance issues. Exhaust leak? Has anyone had a similar sound before?

Sounds pretty normal for a stock system that has the goofy H pipe still in place. You have what they call "motorboat" noise. See the video below at about 1:40.
To get rid of the "motor boat" sound, you will either have to do the "H pipe mod" or get yourself a cross over pipe. I did the cross over pipe and my Z06 sounds much better. I got a Borla X pipe from Summitt.

Thanks for the info. Seems like culprit. I took off the valve covers to make sure there were no issues in the valve train. All looks good (except that I got yellow springs, but it's a late 2003 and those seem to be less prone to the issue).
Gonna think about doing headers sooner than later and get that midpipe replaced.

Nothing that 30 or 40 track days wouldn't resolve. Once the exhaust tips turn blue from the heat of running long time periods at WOT the exhaust gets a lot throatier. The stock Titanium exhaust is an excellent exhaust so be careful and don't mess it up as it is worth a fair amount of money on the used market.
