Hello all. I have an 03 A4 and when l started the car the ABS and traction control light both came on. Drove about 25 minutes to see a friend and when l was leaving his place the lights didn't come back on. Drove home with no issues. Would anyone here be able to tell me why my car did that? Thank you in advance.
First thing I would do is pull the codes. If you put your phone in video mode you can record them all as the car goes through every module. Then you can go back through the video on your phone and write down any relevant to the current issue.
The bad news? Your abs module is on it's way out. The good news? As an 03 it is repairable. My lights come on every so often but as soon as I restart they go away. Bad news of me is mine is not repairable.....I wouldn't worry about it is it is that sporadic but you might want to look into the repair.
Some faults, primarily C1214, are repairable by people such as ABSfixer. Others are not; I have had an unrepairable solenoid code for some years; I am just doing without.
Yes....I had this code on my 2002 Z06 and sent to ABS Fixer.
They did a great job and sent back in a couple days prepared.
Need to remove EBCM (Elec Brake Control Module). It requires removal of 2 electrical connections and then 6 T20 bolts. The bolts are a little difficult to remove and install due to accessibility/hand reach. Lots of videos out there on Utube.
Get the extra Surge Protector for $50 they offer and they test you module when received and when repaired.
I personally would not repair myself as places with ABS fixer can test the whole module and repair any items that need to be addressed and then re-test to make sure all is addressed and a lifetime warranty.
