I'm driving and went to put it in competitive mode. I hold down the traction control button and as its about to engage, the warning lights on my dash light up like a Christmas tree and the DTC starts flashing reduced engine power, and the car shuts off.
I tried to restart and it just cranks and doesn't fire. While stuck on the side of the road, I pulled the codes and it shows P0606 P1516 P2516. I tried to clear them, and they wont clear. I tried disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes, and no change.
I did some reading and it seems to point to a fried TAC Module. Since they are expensive and not easy to come by, I wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience and can confirm this is a good place to start.
I’d be more worried about the P0606 (PCM Internal Communication Interrupted)…if a P0602 (PCM not programmed) is not set the FSM says replace the PCM !!…even still I would check the PCM power and grounds first…what part of the Jersey Shore ??…I lived in Ocean and Monmouth before heading down here to Florida almost 3 years ago…if it is still a crank no start let us know what else you are seeing ??…what you can do to see if the PCM is “alive” is remove the MAF connector and with key ON see if you have 5 volts on the yellow wire…the PCM has an internal 5 volt generator internally which supplies many circuits with 5 volts.

Sorry for the delayed response! I'm in Monmouth County, Morganville. I am going to check the voltage tonight when I get home. From what I read, the P0606 is not recoverable. If that's the case, no matter what, I'm going to need a new PCM; right? I did replace the TAC with a known working unit, and no change.
PCM has 2 battery power feeds (orange) and 1 ignition power feed (pink)…has 1 ground above the battery where the battery negative cable connects on the engine block…looking is not how you would check these…at minimum at 12 volt incandescent test light.
