Default Electrical Issues

Hello and thanks for having me. I have an 01.base model C5 with CAi and Borla pipes only as performance mods. Recently was getting intermittent start up and car stalling after start. Got abs and traction control messages/lights and reduced engine power. Changed battery and ignition switch 2 weeks ago and cleared code. No issues until this afternoon. While driving, seemed like power loss and all needles swept but still able to drive. ABS and Traction Control lights came on and "service vehicle soon" message. Got home and pulled codes. The B2282 and B2283 are new. I restarted w/o clearing the codes all lights and messages gone.

Wondering if the ignition switch could have gone bad already (Genuine AC Delco part but not the green one.I took out and Made in China sticker). Or cshould i be chasing something else?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or insight.

These are the codes i pulled.

A no start or start and stall sounds like a possible serial data issue…U1040 is IPC is not communicating with the EBCM…you can try checking the power and grounds on the EBCM…2 power feeds and 2 grounds.

Having a scan tool that can communicate with all of the cars module will help diagnose this…if the scan tool can’t communicate with the EBCM you would start there.

I scan with my tool which is decent but maybe need a better one. No codes came up, although the DIC still showee a couple..i cleareed them. I also took the ECBM out 2 years ago and sent to Abs fixer and they repaired and Traction Control works as expected. I cleaned the grounds in the engine compartment and some were corroded. Went for a ride and when I wnt over a bump I got the needle sweep and odometer was displayed.. Pulled codes when I got home and P0706 and B2605 were the only two. I can say this is the second time I noticed when I hit bumps in the road I got activity on the dash and messages. Did not stay, Traction control or active handling lights came in and then back off so lead me to think maybe something is loose and is jolted when I hit bumps in the road. Will see about getting a better scan tool and see if it's connecting with the ECBM as suggested.

Default Update

Thank you all who shared knowledge and your willingness to help me with this issue. Especially Bill Curlee who was amazing and spent so much of his time helping me trouble shot and educating me and sharing his knowledge. This forum is lucky to have a you as a resource Bill! I've gotten codes eveytime I've driven and was put down in the middle of the road the other day. Noticed the issue occurred when I drove on bumpy surfaces. Happy to say I'm confident the problem is resolved. Stud where there are two wires with eyelets next to the fuse box and battery I installed Knightdrivetv headlights and had to use this as a power source. I found the wire for the lights was frayed and the connector was bent and chewed up and wasn't making good contact, as well as the two wires that were there were touching and where the wire to the eyelet was exposed and sparking some. I cleaned, put electrical tape where the wire was exposed and but a new eyelet in the wire for the headlamps and taped good. Reacted and have been driving all day with out a single code. Hope this helps someone and gives you a place to start if you experience the same symptoms.

Bill Curlee and C5 Diag have forgotten more about electronics than I'll ever know. Both are tremendous assets to this forum!!!
