Power antenna replacement
Today came out and gave it a try, the thickest part/lower section of the antenna tube would not come out, I fought it and fought it.
Carefully put WD40 on it, had towel wrapped around antenna to keep it off paint, saw something that might be jamming it, so got the little harbor freight pick tool kit and tried to lift it, no room, but was able to slightly twist it as it had a recess with the pick tool, and tried again it came out.
It is a metal sleeve.
Next issue is the plastic cord is broken and need to pull it from motor, maybe have to pull motor out and open it up.
What if I don’t want a power antenna, could one just cut the plastic cord from antenna and just push it back into place to fill the hole?
It seems the plastic cord is connected to the tallest piece of antenna, at the little ball tip, might be crimped.
This is the sleeve that had the antenna stuck, using the pick tool in the gap a spinning the sleeve unlocked the antenna assembly and it pulled right out.
Disconnected bottom pipe and pulled rest of broken cord out, to be sure it was all out removed little motor from gear box and used a screwdriver to rotate the gears that wind up the cord both directions, no pieces left behind.
May order a new mast but for now have antenna completely retracted and not having to worry someone (probably me) get snagged on it walking around garage and break quarter panel.
