I've got a busted shaft on my right rear shock absorber. I have the Eibach / Callaway Multi-Pro R2 set up, which has a specific shock for each corner of the car. As mentioned here, the system is no longer in production and neither Eibach nor Callaway has any replacement parts. With no spare parts miraculously showing up, I'm trying to see if there is a shop that can repair a complete break on a corvette shock absorber shaft. Searching has only turned up "rebuild" options (eg. valving, oil, seals, etc). I need a repair on a shock that supposedly doesn't have replacement parts available off the shelf (at least not under Eibach part #s).
Does this exist? Any recommendations? Otherwise, I'm looking at needing a complete new set of 4, which I'm trying to avoid having to do.
I see no reason a competent welding shop can't repair this. They'd have to be careful of how hot they get the shock, but a good welder with the right equipment should be able to help you out.
To update on this, I found Anze Suspension in FL, a shop that does a lot of rebuilds. They said that one of the adjusting rods for that shock travels through the center of the main shaft and thus you cannot just weld the shaft back together. They also said that IF they can match a part for this shock from a different catalog it might be repairable. But they advise repairing both rear shocks with the same parts and to the same specs, so this might be a cheaper option than buying a set of 4 new ones, but still not cheap and still a little uncertain.
The shocks are still on the car as of now. I'm not in any rush and am open to other suggestions.
Good luck and I will be watching.I have a broken Pfadt shock so I am in the same boat
Are yours the original PFADT version? I'm sure you already contacted AFE and they told you they don't work on the originals? That is what they told me anyway. I have an original set that have not leaked yet, but I was inquiring for the inevitable time that 1 or more do leak.
AFE did offer me a trade-in for a new set but I have 2 sets.I like them and have no need or desire to change over.Don't really want to do coilovers either so I will use them until they die.Just because they are discontinued doesn't mean they are outdatedA lot of needed parts for these cars are no longer available from the factory.Does this mean the C5 is outdated?
I am just saying everything newer is not always better.Sure.lots of things have improved but at the same time, some have just been changed in an attempt to be better.Latest and greatest doesn't always mean better.

Many times it means they want to sell the same person another car! But, yes, the C5 is surely dated.
