Hey guys, I have been trying to figure out this issue with my fuel guage.
backstory: started car without fuel pump relay and issues started happening.
my fuel guage trips out like it doesn’t show correct fuel & it goes to low fuel and screams check gauges and throws the P0463 code. &&& one out of like 100+ starts I have a hard time starting the car. Like fuel pump trips. Really rare but happens. Like it cranks and attempts to start but dies. No other codes.
but here’s the thing:
If you look at the fuel gauge as 8 markers, when I have 3/8 full tank (the notch below half tank)
my fuel gauge acts normally. No low fuel, 100% accurate. No fluctuating. Nothing. It works flawlessly.
I have to do smog at the end of this month and can’t because of this code.
Sorry, I found your post a little confusing to read so I'm not really sure what problem you are experiencing. Low fuel pressure causing stall or inaccurate fuel gauges or both?
My gut says that you need a couple of bottles of Techron in the tank. While some will call it "snake oil" others will swear by it. If your gas choices have been "lower quality" you make have not gotten enough detergent in the taking to keep the electronics clean and free of corrosion. Give that a try for a couple of tank fulls and see what happens. If that does not do the trick you are left to pull the tank and put in a new sending unit.

Put a bottle in my tank yesterday. Say what you want but when the gauge on my C6 started acting like this, I monitored my gas by miles driven and after the second fill up the gauge began working. It all depen
ds I guess on the condition of the sending unit.

Thank you! I’ll try but Aren’t there two sending units? What side?
Numerous threads and videos on the techron gauge fix issue. Our vette was stored with an empty tank by the previous owner for a few years. Messed up the fuel gauge. Now with a few bottles of techron and dillegent full fill ups the error only persists for the first 5 miles of a tank (used to start at a quarter tank!) Figure if we park it for the winter with a full tank techron mixed in the error will be completely gone by spring. Just reset your trip meter every fillup so you can at least know how fat you've gone until you've made some progress.
