2022 C5 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Default I Never Saw This Before......

Today as my car would not start, for the umpteenth time, up on the dashboard, I received the following message " Pull Key, Wait 10 seconds." Then it disappeared! I started it about 15 times without success.

The latest plan is to put in a new key cylinder. I'm going to do it. So far, new starter and new key have not worked! And the DIC code is a security warning.

Anybody see the message or have any other thoughts? It will start tomorrow for sure! Always does.

Happens to me usually when the battery has been low, or it’s been disconnected. If I keep the tender on regularly I never have a problem.

Have considered the Big 3 wiring kit?

You should replace the key cylinder housing which will have a new VATS key assembly. It's that part of the switch that contains the contacts that press against the keys resistor pellet. My car does the same pull key wait ten seconds but only during winter months, and it's not voltage related but cold temperatures, one of this days I will figure it out.

Thats' exactly the plan! I am charging the battery now, I hope it will start tomorrow. If it does start, it goes tomorrow.

Thank you for your help !

I wonder if you can put some dielectric grease on the resistors on the key, hoping to will clean the key cylinder area around the resistors

If you change the vats key or cylinder you will have to reprogram the BCM. an LMC5 will cure that pull key message

The only time you have to do the BCM relearn procedure when changing key cylinder is if you have bought a new key that has a different resistor pellet resistance then the original key.
