Anyone know what this wire could be? I found it when replacing my battery, it was just sticking out and I could see it wasn't plugged in to anything.
I was thinking at first maybe a kill switch but then I saw 250VAC on it. Could be the previous owner just used a switch he had lying around to act as an open/close switch
That looks like some kind of surplus aircraft circuit breaker. (and a real hack job) Whatever it is, get rid of it and do a thorough inspection of the entire electrical system!
I second jcgunn's opinion. That's some pretty sketchy work.
The larger gauge wire looks like the power wire I used when I did custom sound systems as a kid, so this hack job was likely performed by someone with that background. Could have been for some aftermarket alarm system or audio equipment that's either been removed or disconnected.
