Hi I have a 2000 white convertible corvette with 32.000 miles on it . The problem Im having is that the little mapping lights that are on the rearview mirror do not go on when i enter the car making it hard to see at night . The lights work , but I have to manually turn them on . They dont go on when either door is opened. Also it isnt the switch thats on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel ..any thoughts on this ???????? could it be a fuse or something ? but how can it be a fuse if the lights work ? Thx
Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror
Your vehicle may have an automatic dimming rearview
mirror with map lamps.
This mirror automatically changes to reduce glare from
headlamps behind you. A time delay feature prevents
rapid changing from the day to night positions while
driving under lights and through traffic.
The mirror includes two map lamps and an automatic
dimming function. There is also an interior console flood
lamp located underneath the rearview mirror which
remains on at all times.
IO (On/Off): The automatic dimming feature is turned
on or off by pressing this button located on the
lower part of the mirror. Press and hold the button for
up to three seconds to turn this feature on or off.
When cleaning the mirror, use a paper towel or similar
material dampened with glass cleaner. Do not spray
glass cleaner directly on the mirror housing.
Do the light come on with Dimmer Switch on the left of the Instrument Cluster?
Are you getting 12V on Pin #6 when a door is open and the courtesy lights are on?
Hi thanks no they do not come on with the dimmer switch but the dimmer switch does work . someone mentioned possible relay ?????????? fuse ???????? any thoughts ???
Are you getting 12V on Pin A when a door is open and the courtesy lights are on?
If you are, wiring in the mirror is bad, If not, there is a wiring problem going back to the CTSY LP Relay 42 in the I/P Fusebox.
Also, could be a bad connection in the connector.
