Default Dash lights blinking and other odd light issues - Hazard Switch?

I am trying to avoid pulling dash apart of course - I do have a spare hazard switch - I already replaced the multi-function switch for lights, cruise, etc.

OK here is the car info-
  • 2000 coupe
  • Vette Lights rear and front LEDs w/resistors and hyper flash harness
  • Sharp Light ACA Bi-LED headlights
  • Pretty sure this just started recently, like the last time I took it out at night about 2 weeks ago.

Symptoms
  1. With all lights OFF, door open or closed, key off
    1. Press brake
      1. warning chime for lights
      2. brake lights and front markers turn ON
      3. If I press and hold in the hazard switch, the warning chime ceases
    2. Key ON
      1. right turn signal works - flashes front and rear (and rear side marker)
      2. left signal - flashes all lights (except head lights)
      3. hazards work
    3. Key ON, headlights on or just marker lights ON
      1. right signal seems normal
      2. left signal blinks really slow and flashes all light's same as 2/2 above
      3. cruise control doesn't work (it does work with lights off)
    4. Key ON or OFF
      1. Hazards ON, dash flashes with hazards
Is this a classic hazard switch deal? I have not checked or cleaned the light harness grounds, but I intend to later today. I want to drive it to a cruise-in Friday and really need to get this thing fixed.

Thanks!!

Have you tried switching the hazard switch on and off several times like 20 or so? I also installed Vette light led headlights on my 2002 found headlight bucket worked with out the resistor installed.

I have exercised the switch probably 15 times, yes.

I'm thinking hazard switch, since when I press and hold it, the light on warning chime turns off.

And...just realized the dash lights are blinking with the hazards, so I am thinking it must be the switch! Time for more disassembly I guess.

I'm having a conversation with myself. My spare (but used condition unknown) hazard switch didn't fix the issue...

Cleaned the ground points on both sides. Did not fix.

To this point I have done the following with no change to the symptoms:
  • installed new GM multifunction switch
  • installed used hazard switch
  • cleaned ground points on both sides near the headlight connections
  • cleaned ground point under the factory battery location ( I have a trunk mounted battery, so there is not battery there)

Maybe try installing all the OEM bulbs and removing the hyper flash. Return totally to stock and see if anything changes.

My car would act goofy too with LEDs, even with the hyper flash harness. My HVAC backlighting was flashing. Go figure that one. I'm back to incandescent bulbs and no problems.

One taillight was plugged in backward, that caused the entire thing! Now to put the whole car back together!
