Pull key and wait 10 seconds
Has anyone figured out a solution for this annoying message that I get from time to time in my Z06. I have installed the steering lock defeat kit but I don't that is designed to fix this problem.

When I had that problem with my car, I installed the wiring kit in the passenger side fuse box and it still did the code. I had to go one step further and cut the one of the wires? The wiring kit had instructions on how to do each step. The kit stated only about 10% of the corvettes had to cut the wire to get the code to stop. I haven't had the code since cutting the wire. I think it was the brown wire but don't hold me to the color of the wire.

If you installed the LMC5 kit from Compliance Parts, there is a separate step as call283 notes. It involves more than just cutting the brown loop, so if you've lost the instructions and other parts I suggest you contact Compliance Parts for assistance. I did my "new" 2003 recently and when I spoke with Compliance learned that more of the C5's will have this issue as they age. The "brown wire mod" immediately cleared my issue, but mine was every time I tried to start the car, not an intermittent issue.

I have not had the pull key wait ten seconds message for several months, but it's due to return once colder fall and winter temperatures return. My car is a 97 6 speed coupe and last winter that message came up everytime on every first start, I simply do what the message says.
