I appreciate it, but I was thinking it was gonna be like $2000.. I could get a supercharger with that money and bolt it on myself, could I not?
$6400 with no tune is the F you price. Before markup, parts should run in the low $1000 range and I would expect labor for the install to fall in the realm of $1000, but then again I do all my own work so I'm kinda out of touch with what it costs to let a shop do the work.
At a $100/hour for labor, they're saying it's a 33 hour job??!!! I'd come out of retirement if you'll give me $3,300 labor to install a cam and install new lifters!! I know you feel that's a crazy price, and most of us, including me, would agree.
This is why you shop around.
Yes, you could bolt on a supercharger for that price.
What is $500 Parts bank?
12557840 is that a set of pushrods? You're changing cam and springs, the pushrods may need to be changed too.
Check the reputation of any shop you're considering doing business with. Local corvette clubs are often a useful source of information.

There are OTHER things that "should" be replaced while you have the engine apart. Like = Front cover seal, Balancer, Timing Chain, Lifter trays, and I didn't see performance push rods. If you are doing a cam, You most likely will need bigger injectors. Like others have stated, It has to be tuned! Thats another $500 - $600. Hey,, At least they went the correct route and were going to use head studs!
All that and your most likely NOT going to get parts that should be changed!
RUN FOREST,,,, RUN!
Bill
Like "Supercharged111 " stated, I also do all my own work BUT,, Man,,, Thats a LOT of cash! WOW!

They do good work they have a great reputation. It’s just should I spend that money or go get a supercharger? “Also parts bank is for anything I missed fluids and ect”
You cant find a local bunch of C5 guys that can dig in and make that cam happen? When I lived in CT, we would muster at ENGLANDGREEN'S house "Stephen Rawlins" with all the North East guys, and have a MOD PARTY. Guys would bring all their parts and everyone would dig in and get the projects done! Pizza, beer, snacks, good music. Heck, we would have 10 -15 people show up. It was a blast!
On another note, Get EVERYTHING in writing!! I would ask about those "OTHER" parts that I mentioned earlier. Some one else questioned the push rod topic. If they are not changing that OEM balancer, there doing you a disservice! .

Around here any decent shop is charging closer to $200/hour.
Price on the head gasket set seems real high though

that does sound really cool. There isn’t really a lot of C5 people around my area of Tennessee, I know in Atlanta about 2 1/2 hours from me there’s a club of them. I would be happy to do it with other people, I’m pretty young and know very very little about engine work, I like to learn. If I see anything like that though I’ll definitely have to give it a shot.
I don't care how trustworthy they are. There are many trustworthy shops that would charge half that price for the same work. You're nuts.
So some of us don’t have the time or knowledge to do it ourself which is why I take it to a professional I get that you’re a lazy unemployed daddy’s money POS and have all the time in the word but I have to work and I don’t have the know-how. If you’re gonna be a dick take your lazy *** back to the garage and go jerk off or whatever it is your lazy *** does all day
