Default Head studs

Has any one installed a set of heads with ARP head studs?

Does it make the heads harder to get on as far as clearance with the motor in the car?

Are Cometic Head gaskets any good?

Thanks

Patches and I both used ARP studs during our heads and cam install.
No clearance problems with the studs, very nice setup.
Cometic’s are fine for LS1/6 heads but there is / was a problem with the 5.3 heads. Check with Cometic, they may have resolved the problem by now.
Also, note there is a notch on some heads that require the older composite gaskets or it will likely leak.

I used 12pt head stud kit and Cometic gaskets here. I had no choice for the head gaskets since i have the big bore. I had the motor out when i put the heads on the new short block. It shouldnt be a problem using studs with motor in car. simply slide the studs that have clearance problems in after you bed the heads.
