I have attached 2 videos to capture the clicking sound that is coming from the engine compartment. Prior to yesterday she was running perfect. I replaced the AC tensioner pulley including a new idler. Ran the car for a bit to the store then noticed a kind of metallic clicking sound or like an electrical arcing sound. I eliminated the arcing sound last night because after starting her up could not see any sign of arcing (electrical flash) but the sound was still there. Also this only happens at idle and if I rev it up the sound goes away. Anyway the 2 videos show that the pulley is running straight so I am at a loss. TIA for any help. Cheers!!! If you can't see/hear the video LMK and I will post elsewhere like YT.
yep I know what you mean brother. I am hoping it is not the Dampner. If it was the remaining pulleys I can live with that. I am currently looking for some pulleys and such made from stainless steel or some other metal to get rid of the plastic crap. Also looking into changing out all that crap in the front and change over to a single serpentine system. So any suggestions will be apreciated.
I don't have any charge in the unit because I evacuated it all due to the work I was doing on the front of the engine. I guess I could turn it on even though it has no charge.
I am just going to take the AC belt off and run it to see if that is where the noise is coming from. It would be a shame as the AC pulley is brand new although the idler is made of plastic just like the OEM.
Well I figured it out sort of and fixed it sort of. But the noise is gone. I took off the AC belt and started her up with just the drive belt and she sounds sweeeeet, yes!! So now that I have it down to the AC, I guess, and I am asking here if that noise could be from the AC compressor without any refrigerant? The AC is not on meaning the compressor clutch pulley is not turning but the AC is off in the vehicle. Or could it be a bad idler or tensioner? In any even at least it wasn't the dampner as I am not ready to replace that just yet.

The low pressure safety will keep the compressor clutch from pulling in. Looks ilke a tensioner issue
Can you get a 3 foot piece of heater hose and put one end to your ear and probe with the other end? Be very careful where you stick the probing end that it does not get tangled with anything moving. That should help you locate the noise. Watch your fingers!!!!
Thanks, I actually have a Stethoscope which is what I used to determine it was the AC idler or tensioner so I will be replacing both just to be sure. Cheers!!!
Happy Thanksgiving To All and especially to my Veteran Brothers and Sisters and most especially to those who didn't make it back whether it be physical or mental.
