Most likely, the oil temperature sensor output goes directly to the gauge, unlike some sensors that input to the pcm, and then sent to the gauges.

I found a code for it. It was history, I cleared it, but haven’t driven it yet to see if it works. Thank you

I drove the car today for about 30 minutes. The code came back. I guess the sensor has failed or my headers melted the wires.

I roached my plug on the header and car throws the same code, my guess is it's showing an open circuit for you.

I believe the DIC displays low below 15*. If it reads low it never reads at all until you shut the car off for a few minutes and restart the car.

I’ve read two old threads that said when their headers were installed the wires on the sensor were pulled out or damaged. Im starting to think this is what happened. Yes it show B1543 open circuit.

Could be a bad sensor. Could also be bad wiring, especially if you have headers. The wiring runs REALLY close to the headers, and if it gets too close the heat can destroy the wiring. The sensor is located on the oil filter housing. Get under the car, find the sensor and trace the wires up. If the wires are undamaged, replace the sensor. If the wires are damaged, repair the wires before throwing a sensor at it.
