Help Identify Noise ‘98 49k miles
I was still noticing a tapping/thumping noise and that was the rocker arm and pushrods so I had those done. Now I am still hearing this noise in the video linked below its like a fluttering/tapping when I accelerate?
There was also a noise I noticed when I was at a idling at a red light so probably idler pulley? Let me know if you might know what this is please. Thanks!

Having an automatic trans, your Torque Tube is ALWAYS SPINNING when the engine is running.. If I were a betting man, I would say you may have worn/defective rubber couplers or worn / noisy bearings in the TT.
I recommend getting the car in the air and using a mechanics stethoscope to listen to the rotating parts of the drivetrain and see if you can pin point the noise to a specific location. (Like the front of the TT. or in the front bell housing If you have an A4 automatic, there is a connection clamp on the input shaft of the flex plate/torque tube shaft that can come loose and make weird noises. The maintenance manual provides specs for properly tightening it.

Wish me luck! Also how much do you think a job like that would cost?Last edited by Slo.c5; Dec 5, 2023 at 06:06 AM.
