I have a 99 coupe with a LSx engine with a A&A supercharger with a 3.6 pulley. I was wondering which one is better choice E85 or Meth? Pro and Con on each one
E85 all day every day, not to mention the ticking time home any meth kit is. E85 will be worth 70hp before u add timing. It will feel broken on pump gas. Injector dynamics come with enough data to make the needed giant injectors still run well.
Are you asking about E85 or flex fuel? Because E85 isn't always 85%. Meth can run out, but as long as there's fuel in the tank E85 will always give you its benefits. But if all you do is short trips E85 is no bueno.
Dollar for dollar if you're obly seeking to make the tune a little safer then I'd vote meth. Though I'd really just make the tune itself safer and not add either.
Going E85 requires an all new fuel system as well as a new exu and a tune. That's pricy as heck unless you absolutely need it. Yet, I prefer E85 because it can be perfectly metered into each cylinder.
Goong meth, unless it can be direct injected into each cylinder with a second bank of injectors and rails I wouldn't want it. Why? Because at the power levels where you start to want to use it as a power adder and not just a tiny feel-good safety margin, if you began spraying it in the intake you're going to flood some cylinders and burn others and with 700+ hp by that point, while it would be mostly fine, I'd be leery.
Maybe tell us more what your goal is behind the question. It may help.
If you have a 97-2003 you will need the following to be able to run E85:
P59 ECU with 2004 C5 Operating System
E85 capable injectors
E85 capable fuel pump
E85 capable filter/regulator
E85 flex fuel sensor
Having a SC already I assume your injectors and pump are up to the task, but unsure if they can handle E85.
