I have heavily ported heads, Ported FAST90, Ported 90mm TB, Headers, and a big cam. Doing the calculations, All I would need are 36 lb/hr. I went with 42s for expansion but, unless you are doing some MASSIVE MODS that net more than 500HP at the crank, just upgrading to 36s should do you fine.
NOTE, I suspect that you know that the different flow rate injectors MUST be tuned into the PCM. Just Saying for those that don't know. Unless your OEM injectors are close to being maxed out, at WOT, I wouldn't even bother with going bigger. Bigger does NOT mean more HP if you don't need to go bigger. ,
When I had a 427 darton sleeved LS1 in my C5, I went with 36lb. injectors. It made close to 500whp. It's important to remember the only time you'll approach a 100% duty cycle is at WOT. My current LS7 is at around 530whp, and since GM now has 42lb injectors (had my Darton engine before the LS7 was available) standard for the LS7, and 36lb injectors would've possibly been too small, 42lb. is what I have now. Back in the day guys ran Ford SVO 30lb (@3 bar pressure) injectors, which were around 36lbs@4 bar. I agree with Bill, that unless you have some increased power on the table in the future, 36lb should be good.....
