Re: Red Line Tranny Fluid - does it really make a difference? (vette#one)
The rear end oil is different from the tranny oil. I am currently using Red Line 75W90 All-Synthetic Formula which seems to fit the criterion. It already contains an additive for limited-slip differentials. The manual calls for a SAE80W-90 GL-5 lubricant. Red Line covers that.
I would like to know what Red Line Trans oil is being used in the 6-speed. Is everyone using the Red Line D4 ATF ?
:steering:
D4 ATF is what meets the manufacturer's spec. A while back there was a discussion in which one guy insisted that the Redline Manual Tranny oil was the way to go, so I think at least one person is using that. I wouldn't advise it though!

Phew!! A lot of good info. on here, but I'm still confused on which to use??
1) Redline D4 ATF for the 6speed tranny, correct?
2) Redline 75w90 for the rear diff., correct?
Do we need to add ADDITIVES if any at all to either above?
 :banghead:
You are correct in both cases. Redline 75W90 SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL:
Excellent performance in conventional and limited-slip units. Also for limited-slip manual transaxels which require a 90 WT oil. Contains limited-slip friction modifiers.
