Looking for advice. 03z 26k miles. garage kept and drive a few thousand miles a year since ownership in 2020.(drive it like it's meant to be driven too).
As of the last few months I would start the car in the garage to let warm up and I would get the traction, stability, warning/inactive alarms. I would just ignore them and deal with the abs light on because by the time I got to Wawa and ran through a key cycle it would be clear on startup. (4 miles and a few minutes down the road). Now it doesn't go away and I have a current C1214 code in the TCS system. I never drive with traction on but I hate seeing the light and having to snooze the warnings. Is this something I can get into at home with no lift, or just bring it to ECS or my local master tech? Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.
It is a relay in the EBCM.
Do a search for ABSFixer. It can usually be fixed by sending it out. Some people have fixed it themselves.
Mine was fixed once, but came back a couple years later along with an apparently unrepairable solenoid code, so just doing without.
I had a similar problem with my 2001. Removing the EBCM is a bit of a challenge, partly because it is installed with torx screws. No lift is needed, but to remove the bottom screws, it's much easier if the front of the car is jacked up-access the screws from under the car. The top screws can be easily removed using a long socket extension from the passenger side of the engine compartment. Once the unit is removed, there are a few solder joints that need to be redone-an easy job. Or you can send the unit to a vendor like ABSFixer to do the soldering. I replaced the screws with hex-head ones to make it easier to remove and install the unit. There are several posts here and YouTube videos showing how to do the repair. Realize you are also losing ABS and Active Handling when the warning light is on.
