Default What valve spring ls6 do I have

Newbie c5z owner. Going through car . Car is 2003 c5z stock with 70k.

heard about yellow valve springs and I should replace . This is what is on car now . I believe this is all stock and never changed as dirt is all over valve cover

is it safe to assume I do not have yellow springs and don’t have to change? I plan on driving car town maybe 2 times at track. Vin is ends in S635101060

They aren't yellow so you should be "fine".
Some people opt to replace valve springs on occasion as preventative maintenance (for example I replaced my '01Z's original valve springs @ 76k miles 1.5 years ago). People who race more often also will treat valve springs as typical maintenance... though I have no idea what interval is reasonable (and it depends on which springs are used).

The stock springs on my '03 Z06 were also bare steel and not yellow painted. I replaced them anyway because I track the car. You might be OK, if youre just worried about them breaking due to them being yellow.

If you mean 7/02 that’s an early build 2003 valve spring should be yellow unless they have been changed by previous owner.

With the dirt and grime and plethora of owners I doubt it was changed. I have everything ready to go. Would my 6 gallon 135psi pancake compressor that goes up to 90psi (but hangs at 50psi no less) is my concern. Also if it’s not broke don’t fix it is in my brain. I can return springs and valve seals. But then for the lousing 150 dollars for a piece of mind ? Just got car and going through it
3% of failure rate is not big . Car has 70k . Would my new stock springs have same failure rate or no as its new (not 20 years old)

If you are tracking the car, I'd replace with a new set of springs. The original owner of my 01 Z06 with the milder early cam had a spring break. He did run track events with the car.

Those are definitely not yellow springs. I posted on an
other thread.

Frankly, based on the failure rate of these springs, I wouldn't trust any GM valve springs, regardless of color. Whether they are yellow, blue, or natural, all of these springs are supposedly manufactured to the same specification. GM buys springs from the cheapest supplier and the cheapest supplier doesn't always have the best QC. But, the consequences of a spring failure at speed is too ugly to contemplate.

If you have the remotest suspicion that the springs are original, you should seriously consider changing them up with a quality alternative.

I autocross my 2004 Z06 a lot. The LS 6 hits the rev limiter frequently in second gear at the events, sometimes for 1-2 seconds. It has 63K miles on it. I want to change out the springs as a precaution. I am trying to decide between Pac 1215-16 $219 or BTR SP011-16 $85. The price is not the deciding factor. Both have good reviews, but many more people have reviewed the BTR springs.

Ok just replaced them for cheap insurance with new valve seals. Easy if you take your time . The manual valve holder down took most of the time.
