I rented the 2-jaw puller tool from Autozone, and with a Dremel cut/ground the tips a bit for better bite. Can't find a picture but it's pretty straightforward.
Also, I removed the needle rollers from the old pilot bearing before using the tool... it gives more room for the puller's tips.

So you modified a rental tool??? I like JDM's back/slide hammer tool.

My point is it's NOT YOUR TOOL to modify! What makes it easier for the next guy (with an LS engine) can make it weaker for the next guy who may need all the strength engineers designed into it.

I was joking and I know better than to modify borrowed tools. If I had to modify it I'd just buy it instead of returning it.
HD otc easily slipped. Stuck in billet crank. Nothing to lock the fingers. destroyed the roller bearing. Started to cut this pilot out. HD moded OTC with thrust bearing, ground Taper OTC Merged, moded OEM brand locking fingers. Will NOT slip. Effortless, Smooth action
