I installed Tick/PAC #TP660DVSK (Titanium Retainers) with Ticks Pushrods about 20k miles ago. During that time I also installed Katech chain, Melling pump, SNS Torque stage 2 cam, Powerbond pulley, Trunnion upgrade, AFE intake BBE long tubes, x pipe, high flow cats an muffler with all those mods bringing in more power I'm sure it put increased wear on the springs. I am a short shifter so I don't redline much. I always let the engine warm up to 120F before I start driving. Change oil every 3k miles. Knowing my driving style and mods should I go ahead and swap out the springs as well as the pushrods?
Not sure about what is available in titanium retainers for LS motors. On my non-GM racecar, I periodically remove the retainers and check for wear where they contact the springs.
I had no idea that springs spun around so much until I saw the vids on the PAC youtube site. They could potentially drill right into your soft aluminum cylinder head, if not installed properly.
The enemy of springs is heat. So long as your are not using restrictor pushrods, you should have enough lubricant flow to the top end to keep the springs cool and the pushrods adequately lubricated.
The best early warning system is with routine engine oil analysis.
What is the best interval to replace springs? There is no way to tell, unless you are routinely testing them. Get a valve spring testing tool. It will quickly pay for itself if you are currently replacing springs every 20k miles.
