I bought my first Corvette (C5) about 6 months ago. Recently, I noticed a small puddle of oil on my garage floor that appeared to be coming from the differential fill plug area. I removed the fill plug and the aluminum tag held in place by the plug but found no washer. I found a diagram that indicates a washer should be used. Does anyone know how I can find the correct washer?

Your local auto parts store will likely have an assortment of copper washers. If not, perhaps your local hardware store has some. Take the plug and match it up with an appropriate size washer. If you don't have another car to drive to the store, trace the fill tag onto a piece of paper and take that to the auto parts store to match with a copper washer.
If you have a dial micrometer, measure the OD and ID of the fill tag and jot those numbers down on your sheet of paper. If you live in the middle of nowhere, you can likely find an appropriate copper washer on Amazon via the OD and ID measurements.

Thank you for your reply. I was not able to find a copper washer anywhere but did find one made from fiber at Home Depot that seems to fit pretty well (see picture). I plan on rolling the dice and trying it. Another option, I suppose, is to just order a new fill plug which includes the washer (part # 19256068 according to my local Chevy dealer).
Odd question, but are you sure it wasnt stuck to the diff housing when you pulled it off? If it's missing, at least you know the diff fluid was definitely changed at some point.

Diff fluid is very clean, so I must have been changed recently. There is definitely no washer stuck on the housing. I suspect it got lost during prior service. Thanks for replying.

Copper, or even aluminum crush washers are more common, but there is no reason why a fibre washer shouldn't work.
