Have an opportunity to get some base c8 brakes for cheap. I know the front rotor is about the same size as the c5 front, but I thought I could throw the rears up front and vise versa. Anyone ever try this? Or know if the bolt pattern on the calipers is workable with the spindle?
You would likely be the first to try. C7 brakes need noteworthy modification to fit, and I imagine the C8 brakes would require even more effort. Doubtful that whatever deal you would be getting will make up for the time and expense getting them to work. It would be cool to attempt though

Really? I thought c7 spindles were identical to the c6s.
I don't know how, but I got that backwards in my head lol.

Nothing is inherently wrong with them. I was planning on doing some HPDE this summer and am planning out a mod list. I had this opportunity to get them for stupid cheap and figured if they worked, cheap upgrades are the best upgrades.

Great idea, but likely by the time you're finished making them fit will offset any savings you got on them.
If you really want better brakes , check out the usual suspects for a big brake upgrade, c6 z06 is a popular and effective upgrade -- wilwood, brembo, and stoptech also make setups. Granted, none of them are cheap, but likely less heaache and cost in the long run than retrofitting c8 brakes.
The least cost option is just running stock calipers with real race pads. The downside is taper wear and cost of the pads. SCCA T1 race class Corvettes were required to use stock calipers in the early years.
If you end up doing a lot of track time, either the AP sprint kit from Essex or the Wilwood spec Corvette kit would be a smart choice. They both use the Wilwood 7420 pad profile pads that are available from many sources for a reasonable price. The pads are 20 mm thick and both kits can be used with stock C5 rotors. I have the AP calipers on my car and they have pretty much paid for themselves in a few seasons.
You may spend time chasing brake bias issues with C6, C& or C8 Z06 as well as the cost of consumables.
