My key fob deprograms after a few hours. Car battery is new. I replaced the key fob 6 years ago with an AC-Delco. I replaced the key fob battery last week. All other on board electronics are working fine. I checked the battery voltage in the morning after sitting for 3 days and it's 14.6 volts. I only have the one key fob. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? Maybe the key fob receiver? I thought that went through the DCM with all other on board electronics and they're fine. Is there a receiver antennae that could get damaged?
Have you taken the fob apart and lightly cleaned the circuit board contacts where the battery prongs touch with a pencil eraser? You should have a backup fob, they're cheap on e-bay. The receiver antenna is part of the receiver and isn't near where anything can hit it.

Yeah I have to get a second. Lost the second many years ago when moving & thought it would show up. My friend who's a mechanic told me that the cheap FOB's on Ebay are likely Chinese knock-offs and aren't reliable. He thinks I should get an AC-Delco which of course is 8X the price.
If you only have one FOB, a second one will have to be programmed by the dealer. If you had two to start with you could do a third one yourself.
But like others here have said, check the contacts on the FOB.
And don't use Duracell batteries, use Energizer, they last longer. You could have a bad battery (FOB) even though it reads 3.0 Volts.
I have a similar issue, it is a random…. I can open the car, drive it for 10km, park it and close it, come a few minutes later and will not open. The difference with your car, my car battery is weak…
For a 2000, you can only buy one type, and this is the AC Delco, the others are for 2001+ model. Don’t ask me how I know…

Wild.....So someone else suggested opening the key FOB....Clean the pressure contacts with rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip, let it dry and close it up. I'm doing that today and check back in a few days.
Just went thru this today. FOB was intermittent so figured the batt was dying. New batt measured 3.2V, old batt was 2.9V. Installed new batt and it doesn't work at all. Car batt is good. Also did the eraser/alcohol clean on the contacts. Found a video online abt FOB Training. Works great now. One thing to note was I had to hold the lock and unlock buttons for longer than I expected during the FOB Training. Took close to 25 secs.

Correct....I have an AC/Delco. Key FOB battery is new and I cleaned the contacts with rubbing alcohol. Still having the problem of the FOB not working after sitting over-night. Anyone know if maybe the FOB is just old and needs to be replaced?

Have you taken your FOB to an Autozone like place? Some have FOB checkers.
Have you bought a second FOB yet? Unless they have recently gone up in price, they were in the $80 to $90 range for the 1997-2000 C5’s.
Sometimes my FOB’s won’t recognize the unlock command unless I first press lock and then press unlock.
