Default What else can I do? Need Mod advice...

Hey,

Just installed my Hypertech and TRIC (Thanks 1badz) also installed SLP MAF (Thanks David Plum)
Waiting for my set of 97-99 front rims, drag radials, and line lock.
Currently have a Borla XR1, TR55 Plugs, and GM hot wires....also have some appearence mods on the way.

Now looking for what else to do to my A4 without having to get a Torque Converter or major mods making me upgrade the A4 Tranny.
So far Im getting 3.42s from someone...should have it soon...so anything else after all that.

Also...does the hypertech have an option for 3.42s? I have 3.15s already so I figure I dont need to reprogram for 3.42s but if hypertech can than why not.

Thanks for your time!!

I have the Halltech TRIC...
Not sure about the TC. Worried about hearing people talk about their trans dieing after installing one. Rather stay away even though it'd be basically free install from the gear swap

I have a stock 2.73 rear end and run a 100 wet shot fine. The car seems to love the juice. just dont get carried away with it. Also I would switch to ngk tr6 gapped at .035. They are problaly the best plug with nitrous

FWIW..If you have a 3.15 rear casing you might be better off rebuiding a 3.73 or 3.90 rear...DO THE TRANSGO!!...and you will need a better converter than the stock 1200-1400 stall(which is junkBTW)..you now at least will have some punch to the car..:yesnod:

If your on a budget keep the 3.15 rear and go with the TRANSGO and a better converter..maybe a YANK 3000..Just my .02:D

:iagree: with Brother Vince!

If you want VERY nice street manners AND the ability to wax ricers, cobras, vipers, and an occasional turbo at will, do the following:

1. TransGo shift kit
2. YANK ST 3500
3. QTEC electrical exhaust cutouts (the most fun mod will will every use!)

Keep us posted and welcome to Mod Aholics Anonymous where our motto is: "There is no cure for Mod Fever - only treatment - MORE MODS!" :lolg: :hurray:

Brother Gary

Hypertech does not support 3.42's. Buy the gears, they will give you some serious bang for the buck with out breaking anything. You will need to reprogram the PCM for the gear change. A good TC from YANK will put a smile on you're face as well. Call Mike at YANK and get his opinion on you're combination. BTW, adding a converter will not kill you're a/4, it's the 380+ RWHP that kills it.

Like Gary said, QTP cutouts are great fun and they were worth 2/10's e.t. reduction on my setup. You could also do some LT headers for a nice power gain.

My advice is to junk the Hypertech, pick you're next set of mods carefully, and then have the car dyno tuned with the gears, TC, and headers installed together. It sounds like the mod bug has you, so try and spend $ once.

Question on the exhaust cutouts...

Worth getting if I have the Borla XR1 Exhaust?? It already uses no mufflers as it is.

USMUSCL - oops, I must have had yet another "senior moment" because I forgot about your vette being without mufflers. Yep, you don't need cutouts.
