Just a point of interest..2.73's and the word performance don't go together..because there is no performance with 2.73's....!  :lolg: :lolg:   I crack myself up.. :hurray:
Tell me about it, us poor folk have to put up with a damn airplane gear. I really dont understand why gm decided to put this damn gear in. :banghead: Why dont we take a donation to buy me a 3.73 with a 3600 tc. If not no big deal, I'll just keep on spraying it till she pops. :U :cry :blueangel:
I'm consistant at 12.7 - 12.8 NA with 273 gears. Waitng on a level 4 tranny from RPMFrank & will install SY3000 & 342 gears at the same time. WOO -WHOO!! HURRY UP FRANK!!!
stuck , do not know what to do........ use the new 3.15's i have in the garage or p/u some 3.42's now i'm thinking 3.73's going from 2.73 to 3.73 is that a little much with my few mods...?just lookin to run some mid 12's. :chevy
3.73's are too high for an A4. I had 3.42's with a Yank 3500 in my A4 and it was perfect. Do the 3.42's and you'll be happy. My car ran 12.70 with street tires and me as a poopy driver on a garbage track.
3:15s arent so bad with a conveter and drag radials. I'll be well into the 11s with them now with the cam/heads, I ran a 12.17 with only 335rwhp with a vig3000 and 3.15s at a little below sea level. I'd say the 3.42s are worth a tenth or two, have a set laying here and I'll swap them in when the trans dies this summer
Depends what you are going to do with the car...
IMO, if you are paying someone to do the coverter/gear swap find a 3.42. If you are doing it yourself try the 3.15 and pick up a 3.42 when you find a deal on one if you dont like it or is doesnt do what you want. Its not that hard to swap the carrier but you may not want to pay twice to do it.
just a little 12.40 car just a little boost to keep up with stock zo6's. no heads or cam planned.... maybe headers and a few other low budget mods. :chevy
Though not the popular opinion I would just do the converter and 3.15s, with headers and a few other bolt ons + drag radials mid 12s should be pretty easy. BTW 275/40/17 drag radials are one inch shorter then the 18" stock tires, that will put the 3.15 to ~ 3.28 I think :)
