C5 Headlights Making Grinding Noise
Both my headlights are grinding when I close them. I am pretty sure its the plastic gear that needs to be replaced with a brass one, but I have also seen on EBAY a complete motor replacement for both sides for about $100
Anybody purchase these instead of just replacing the gear? Im thinking I would have to take the motor apart to replace the gear, so why not buy a motor. I called the dealer today and almost all C5 replacement parts have been discontinued. Appreciate anybody's 2 cents worth on the gear/motor issue.

It's certainly the gear which failed, the replacement motors you are looking at are aftermarket. Replace the gears (preferably brass) and keep the OEM motors.
