What are you trying to achieve with a thermostat that opens at a lower temperature?

Searching for "Lingenfelter all in one housing and thermostat" takes me to https://www.lingenfelter.com/gm-gen-...sing-2014-2018 which is obviously not the right part. What exactly did you buy?

So the housing will not align/bolt up to the water pump? Take a pic?

Below is a pic of my housing, and the image on the Lingenfelter looks way different to me.

IIRC, the earlier years had a different housing and water pump than the later one. I just don't remember when change occurred

What is the temp setting for the OEM stat? I thought OEM was 180 and low temp stats were 160?

OEM is 195 or so, 180 and 160 would be considered cold.

Ok. So I take it you are not the original owner and/or the water pump was previously replaced.

Looks like you have a 2004+ LS1 / LS2 water pump. They changed the from a one piece housing/thermostat (like the one you ordered) to a two piece. Looks like the opening was reduced as well, which is why the 97-2003 one piece assembly does not fit your water pump.
