Looking for some guidance on a replacement water pump. I’ve found two AC Delco models that are supposed to fit the C5, 252-846 and the 251-744. For some reason the 744 model is quite a bit more expensive.

The less expensive part is an overseas produced part. The more expensive part is/was made in North America.

Also remember that a true 97-2003 LS1 water pump may no longer be available..unless you find NOS. 2004+ versions have a different thermostat housing and thermostat. So the 2004+ pump will bolt right up, but your 97-2003 thermostat/housing will not.

Thanks for that information, I have an ‘03, so I guess a new thermostat & housing are also on the list
