they definitely reduce the popping/gurgling but at the expense of the exhaust sound at WOT. I recently added one with my Corsa's and it sounds completely different.
I put the Corsa X-pipe on at the same time as my stingers so, I can't say if they affect the sound. I still have some poping but, not as much as I had with the flowmasters and stock H-pipe, so I guess it helps.
As for resonance, I still have some between ~ 1600 and 2000, especially loud at ~1800. If yours without an X-pipe is in the same RPM range, an X-pipe probably won't help.
I've heard the Magnaflow X-pipe produces better results but, I haven't tried it myself. I guess you're going to have to do a little more research.
Re: X pipe; do they work and which one? (scool93535)
My x-pipe helped reduce the popping but certainly didn't eliminate it. It also got the exhaust away from that "motor boat" sound that some people compare it to. No horsepower gains, just a better sound.
The exhaust still has some resonance but not enough to bother me that much---and some soundproofing helped that too.
I first put on Stingers and 3 month later I added Corsa X-pipe.
Corsa x-pipe had a perfect fit, perfect description on how to put it on. Easy job.
It reduced the loudness of the popping a lot but did not eliminate it. It did nothing to the resonance I have at 2000 rpm. I mellows/smoothens the sound a lot, but as the Stingers are still loud it´s no problem for me.
I have the magnaflow Xpipe. I got rid of some of the popping, but not all of it. Kind of lowered the tone of the exhaust system a bit. The motorboat sound is minimal now. Hope this helps.
I installed the Basanni X pipe on my car after listening to the Corsa Touring for a few months. I am happy with the X pipes ability to lessen the popping and snarling, as well as refining the sound to "exotic" IMO.
I installed the corsa x-pipe last night. Cutting the stock exhaust and getting everything together was a biatch. Just cutting it and getting everything off took me almost 2 evenings (I need a bigger air compressor and tried the first night to accomplish this without taking the intermediate pipe off the car). Once I got it all off it was a breeze. I welded it all together for a solid fit. I only got to try it out for atou 15 min but so far it sounds awesome. I have the SLP loudmouth and the x-pipe is a perfect compliment. Sound is mellowed out. Idle sounds great and the "motorboat" sound is gone. WOT sounds very exotic. Popping is significantly reduced. Resonance is still there but is not an issue for me. Really changed the whole sound of the exhaust. I would say this is a must have mod for anyone with a "loud" exhaust. I love it.
FWIW I have an X pipe on both my LTI MTI 396 stroker 95 Impala and my 01 ZO6 with MTI head cam package . Both showed an encrease in low end torque and a higher, flatter curve throughout the rpm range than before the X pipe. The Impala got noticably stronger at 3krpm . It also lost 6db at idle and 9db at 3krpm and significantly reduced the cronic drone that plague B bodies. The ZO6 still has stock mufflers, no cats with long tube headers and the wot sound is noticably different than w/o the X pipe. I think location is more important than manufacturer. The closer to the headers, the better they work. I have a Dr. Gas X Pipe on the 6 and I made a stainless one for the SS. Both work well. I think you will be pleased with it. And yes, they do make torque and reshape the curve.

I added the Magnaflow Xpipe to my Corsa Indys and it took care of the popping sounds but at the expense of reduced WOT sound. Not sure I like it that way but time will tell.
Thanks for all the input. I think I may just leave it the way it is. I really like the sound (excluding the poppig and resonance) and don't want to change that.
OUCH! I just replaced the clutch. The shop that installed my x-pipe and stingers welded the x-pipe to the over axil pipe, (borla and corsa flanges didn't line up, WTF) and, tack welded the mufflers to the over axil pipe.
Getting the exhaust out of the way to do the clutch swap required some cutting, cussing and, fussing that wouldn't have been a problem if not for the welds.
Just added the magnaflow x-pipe to my Ghl exhaust. They matched and fit up nicely. Problem is they have mellowed out the deep rumble I liked so much. Undecided if this was a good move or not.
Re: X pipe; do they work and which one? (TLY-BAMA)
Go ahead and install the Long Tube headers now that you have installed the X-pipe, not only will the car get that rumble back you will pick up the extra HP you wanted all along. :)
Re: X pipe; do they work and which one? (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
I dont know, I have only had corsas alone... then with Xpipe... now with headers. Crusing is quiet, Idle is a little louder, but not much... WOT at 3,000 rpm and above makes all the little animals run for cover!!
