Thank you for helping me, I own a 2004. The Corvette sat in the garage and was only driven on "pretty" days with the previous owner. The vehicle has around 30,000 miles. I too only drive vehicle on beautiful days and is garaged when not driving. During a drive, 1st gear shifted very hard to 2nd gear, and then the check engine light came on. This is not the 1st time the vehicle "bucks" from 1st and 2nd gear and/or check engine light has come on. I took Corvette to be tested at AutoZone, and an error message of P08941 Transmission Component Slipping. I took to Transmission Shop, and the mechanic said he "cannot get the Transmission to unlock." The check engine light is currently off and the vehicle is shifting fine. Any feedback would be appreciated, as I do not know if Transmission Shop is trying being honest.
If the car is shifting fine now I would not worry about it. If it starts happening more frequently I would check transmission oil level and or replace the oil and filter.

Why would you advise this? To me, a slipping component (eg clutch plate) will wear really fast if it’s slipping when it’s not intended to slip.
If it were my car, I would take it to another shop for second opinion asap. I also would check fluids asap (and even change the fluid)
Yes, that makes all the difference in the world. Nothing at all about this thread makes any sense. Previously you stated:

Please describe what you mean here. If it has a manual transmission, the driver is responsible for shifting. Are you saying it was difficult to get the shifter out of 1st, into 2nd, what exactly. Also, describe how you were driving when this occurred.

This would make some sense if it were an automatic.

To my knowledge there are no diagnostic checks for manual transmission slippage. Nothing internal to a manual transmission can "slip", only the clutch. So I guess just to be thorough, how many pedals are in the driver footwell? If it's actually a manual, have you checked your clutch fluid level and condition?
You should spend a few minutes searching here for how to check codes yourself, instead of taking it to a parts store for some counter person to attempt to diagnose that may or may not have a clue what they're doing.
I am so sorry! Yes, I meant the Corvette is an automatic. At times, when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd, it kicks (or shifts hard). This last time it shifted hard, the check engine light came on. That is when I took vehicle to AutoZone for testing and results were P0894 "transmission component slipping." The transmission shop if they cannot get transmission to "unlock" then I need a new transmission, which starts at $4,000. Again, sorry for confusion before! I really do appreciate your comments!!
Any other codes not related to transmission? The pressure control solenoid is modulated by MAF and throttle position (among other variables). On most newer stuff if you unhook the MAF the PCM defaults the line pressure to max, and that results in severe shifting.
The transmission shop is feeding you a bunch of nonsense with getting it to "unlock". You should find a real transmission shop that can hook up a pressure gauge and monitor line pressure while driving.
