Default LS6 intake $385 shipped??

What can I hope to gain with this? I have a 00 a4 w mti ram air and corsa exhaust. I'm about to install a b1 cam and get tuning. What could I hope to gain now and what will I gain with new installs? Does anyone have dyno #'s on the intake upgrade? It's seems like a great deal they're usually $500 plus shipping. What do you'll think? Thanks

Where are you getting it from? Are there more. If not, then it's a bad deal and would offer no performance advantage. By the way, where are you getting it from?

Miami motor sports. They give the GM part #. I've been all over the internet and many people are saying that it'll give me 10- 15 hp. My problem with this that the 5 hp gain from the 00 to the 01 was the manifold upgrade in all vettes. Meaning it only adds 5 hp. Whats the deal?

I've been recently told that '02 & up came with LS6 intakes not any year lower.. 01's did not come with the LS6 intakes unless you had a Z.. I could be wrong, but that's what I was told by a few members.

I upgraded as well and noticed a difference.. Can't say how much because I didn't dyno until after the heads and cam were installed. With the mods you are doing you will gain significant increase in HP with the LS6 intake. You can tell that you are getting more flow with the LS6 intake if you compared both (LS1/6) side by side.

Try a search on "LS6 intakes" and you'll find tons of info...

But look at the torque numbers. '00 345hp/345tq '01-up 350hp/375tq. I don't know if all that is from just the LS6 intake, but I will take 30 lb feet any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

$385 is a great price too.

I also have a 2000 A4 and recently installed the '02 LS6 Intake Manifold that I bought from MiamiMotorsports. I say go for it. My car definitely pulls stronger in the upper rpm range and my 0-60's dropped about .15. Throttle response was much better too. I think mine was $413 total b/c you will need the coolant plugs and pipe. Hope this helps.

Tell us (me) more about these coolant plugs and pipe please. This is the first I have heard of them. Anything else to buy? Gasket? Can this mod be done if one is relatively mechanical and has a torque wrench?

Thanks.

As a Forum vendor good price on a great product.I have no exact #'s even though we have replaced many. The SOTP meter says 10 hp at the wheels.and it really wakes up a free flowing intake such as the Black Wing.
I would venture a Black Wing/intake manifold upgrade is good for somewhere in the 28-34 rrwhp area for a small price and not a Chance for voiding your warrantty.
While the intakes off is an ideal time to consider cam or rocker arm upgrades.
Good Luck Dave S. Xtereme

The LS6 intake manifold requires several different coolant plugs and pipe, which is purchased separately. Everything else that you will need comes with the intake manifold. I thought it was kinda weird b/c the coolant pipe on the stock LS1 intake manifold is a lot longer. I watched the guy at the dealership install mine b/c he was already doing warranty work. It looked fairly easy and took him less than 30 minutes. I'd just make sure you have the right tools and I doubt you would have any problem with the install. I've had the intake on my car for about 4 months and could not be happier.

I would be wary of these guys, they're selling below cost. When I order one I'll be spending my money with SLP.
Let me retract that. $385 is a gimmick, they're betting on everyone ordering the coolant pipe and plugs from them and paying $7.99 EACH for shipping and handling on those things.

Thats 434.55 in my book. :skep:

SLP sells this WITH pipe and plugs for $399 + ship. For me thats $423, and I'd rather pay money to someone who didnt try to put $15.98 in handling on my order.

Why do you say that? I changed my cam and springs and my intake has never been off!

I paid $385 for the manifold including shipping and I'm buying the coolant pipe and plugs for $30 from my tuner. Sounds like $415 and the best deal I've seen.

What do you do about the throttle body and MAF doesn't it have to be wider?

The best deal I’ve seen on this manifold is the almost constant no reserve auction by Miami Motorsports on ebay. I have seen them sell for as little as $320+$28 shipping.

As far as the coolant line and plugs go, you can obtain the necessary clearance for the stock coolant line by grinding down the webbing on the bottom of the intake. If you want to buy the other parts the coolant line is 12568478 and the plugs are 12563325.

As far as the installation goes, wire ties are good for holding the rear two manifold bolts up and out of the way while you remove the old intake. When the old intake is off you will need to remove the clips from the knock sensor wires to avoid clearance problems. The real PITA of the install is fitting the vacuum hoses onto the new intake. Some silicone grease will help.

While it makes sense to upgrade the stock MAF to increase its CFM capability with even the stock intake, it’s not necessary. All C5’s use the same throttle body.
