Default EBCM identification

Hi all, my first post as I'm looking to buy a C5 Corvette in the UK. I have pretty much decided on a 2001/2002 - which was the last years that they were officially imported into Europe.

From my searches it looks like the early 1997-2000 EBCM have all of the brake lines at the rear of the unit, the later 2001-2004 EBCM have some of brake lines on top on the unit - is this right?

However I went to see a 2001 Corvette this week and it appeared to have the early EBCM. I have also found a late 2000 model that looked like it had the later EBCM. Or I could be wrong, can anyone help me?

2001 C5 - with early EBCM?

2001 C5 - with early ECBM?

Late 2000 C5 - with later EBCM?

I cannot give you the exact timing of the change but by the 1999 model year, the EBCM was relocated from the rear of the car to under the hood. Perhaps export models were different.

Thank you for the responses. Think I'm more confused than ever :-0

So if the module is in the engine bay it's definitely one of the good ones that can be rebuilt?

Or were 1999-2000 different again?

It was a 1/2 year change for 1998. So it is possible to have a 98 with a front or rear mounted EBTCM.

1999 and 2000 have two possible part numbers for the EBTCM:

9367071 - No JL4
9376711 - JL4/JL9

I have an old parts manual, so I'm sure there were revsions along the way.

If the export models are the same as the North American:

’97-‘00 have very limited rebuild possibilities. I contacted absfixer.com about a month ago and they recently introduced a repair for a specific diagnostic code.

’01-‘04 have greater rebuild possibilities and absfixer.com has information on repairs as well.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, but without the years being the same in Europe is there a way to visually identify the 01-04 units? Reading above posts maybe there isn't and I'll have to look up parts numbers each time. Or maybe I'll just get a C4 and be on the safe side ;-)

Thanks everyone for your help, much appreciated
